for me, I'd say that I've pretty much erased all the dubbery from my thinking and my attitudes, but since I still see the people on a regular basis around town I can't completely forget. I wasn't born in, and the doctrine never really took root deeply because I was too busy chasing after my little kids to pay attention

one of the local dubs made a pass through our annual boy scout yard sale saturday. i looked right at him and had no idea who he was - I knew he looked familiar, but I thought he was a cousin of the scout master instead of someone I spent a decade sitting behind at the kingdom hall. the kicker is that he lives less than 2 blocks down the street from me.

Since you've left, are you still good friends with your bestest JW buddies?
by Julia Orwell inis it possible that someone has a jw friend who's very active in the congregation, knows you don't believe it anymore, and is still your friend?
i'm at the point where word is getting out that i'm not going to meetings anymore, and friends ask me if they'll be seeing me at the ca and i tell them i'm not going.
they want to know why, and what they can do to encourage me.

of all the active dubs I thought were my friends, none have continued our relationship since i stopped attending meetings. there are a few that will speak to me if we happen to see each other at the store, but that's it. some even turn and walk away rather than say hello. One inactive couple who stopped attending meetings years ago have responded to our attempts to reconnect, but I don't know how that will end up once they realize just how out we are.

I remember the anxiety that not getting paid produces. Years ago, Just Ron worked for an outfit and his paychecks started bouncing. Once, it was a check for less than $10 - can you imagine a business not having a lousy $10 in the account? Worse, he cashed it at the university where he was studying and ended up on their bad check list. He couldn't pay any of his student fees by check after that - had to get a money order or pay cash.
I do hope you find a good job that values you and treats you right.

my mom learned early to not try to make me eat anything I didn't want. I would vomit it right back at her if something didn't sit right. I didn't mean to be picky or difficult, but a lot of foods just didn't taste (to me) like anything a person would eat on purpose. I'm not at all picky any more though.

Is this another scare tactic for the weak-minded Jehovah's Witness recruits and experienced members?
by I_love_Jeff inwhere in the bible does it state that adam and eve are unrepentant sinners and therefore deemed forever in the grave with no chance of resurrection, of course?
is this another scare tactic for the weak-minded recruits?
i believe their theory is based on mere speculation and simply used to convince the new recruits as well as the experienced members to refrain from questioning/going against their superiors otherwise jehovah will deem you an unrepentant sinner.

I thought that the argument was not that they were unrepentant but rather that they were perfect when they rebelled and therefore not eligible for a second chance since Jesus proved that a perfect man could be sinless even when faced with great temptation. The only reason any humans get a second chance is because we were all (except Adam, Eve, and Jesus) born imperfect (the dented cake pan theory) and sinful.
